The fine people at wacom have developed a great new instrument for all you illustrators and designers. Inkling is the latest tech that bridges the gap between traditional, sketching and digital development by capturing a digital likeness of a pen-on-paper sketch.
The pen is mightier than the sword. Well, mightier than your carbon based pencil that you used to wield. The Inkling pen digitizes anything you can draw. It combines the digital pen with a receiver that clips onto any type of pad meaning you can use normal paper of your digital sketches. What’s the price you ask? You’ll need to dole out at least 2 Sir Robert Borden’s for this little gadget. For my American friends that’s 2 Benjamin’s.
Good things come to those who wait. And wait we shall. Wacom doesn’t plan on releasing these until mid-November. I know I’m Inkling to get my mittens on one of these.
I was just watching TV this evening and saw a pretty funny commercial for a board game–The Logo Board Game. My initial reaction was, that’s very cool. My kids and I would really be good at that game. Then reality sank it. Jeeze, my kids are all under 10 years of age and probably know a majority of the logos in this game. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not. These commercials are pretty funny, However I think the creators of this game are confusing logos with brands. A logo isn’t a brand and a brand isn’t just about a sweet looking logo. However, it does bring brand awareness to the forefront. Perhaps a more appropriate name should have been–The Brand Awareness Board Game? Or The Brand Recognition Game. Having said that, I think this looks like a fun board game. I have’t seen a lot of reviews on this game yet. I know this game was already released in the UK back in 2009 and seems pretty popular. If you happen to have played this game, please let me know what you think of it. Happy gaming.
The Spare Room opened in February 2011 and is a modern day gaming parlour and lounge, situated on the mezzanine level of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The Spare Room features two vintage bowling lanes, custom and eclectic furnishings, and textures that convey a handcrafted, timeless feel. They even have bowling oxfords custom-designed for the newly opened lounge by George Esquivel.
It is the joint brainchild of Downtown L.A. cocktail pioneer Aidan Demarest (Seven Grand, The Edison, and First & Hope), Med Abrous (Teddy’s, also at the Hollywood Roosevelt), and Marc Rose. Designed by the Los Angeles-based firm Studio Collective, the interior combines vintage, custom-tailored furnishings that conjure up an atmosphere of by-gone affluence.
I found this really neat book while looking through the latest issue of Communication Arts magazine. The concept of Noah Scalin’s “365 method” is simple: Choose a theme or medium, then make something every day for a year. Noah made 365 skull-themed projects . . . now he invites you to choose your obsession and get creative!
The Mighty Wallet® is tear-resistant, water-resistant, expandable and recyclable. Made from Tyvek® (think express mail envelopes), the wallet resists tearing because of thousands of interlocking plastic fibers spun in random patterns giving the wallet incredible strength.
The ingenious origami construction was and is the original folded Tyvek® wallet designed by Terrence Kelleman. The stitch less design reinforces the materials own strength and allows the wallet to instantly expand and adapt to your own personal storage needs. The Mighty Wallet® will expand right before your eyes (watch the video).
Because of the slim, lightweight and water resistant features, you can take your Mighty Wallet® anywhere. It makes a great “night out” wallet for a slender silhouette and the writable surface conveniently acts as a quick note pad on the go.
In time, the Mighty Wallet® will gradually soften and patina but, even after years of wear, it will still offer surprise and solicit intrigue.

I originally came across these guys when I saw a photo that a friend of mine took while she was visiting Vancouver. The photo was awesome, but the subject matter was just as impressive. I had to find out what artist was responsible for this mural. Turns out it’s a group that calls themselves Nomadic Alternatives. They are a talented group of artists from Vancouver that do films, murals, logos and graphic design.
This particular example is entitled “Under the Shadow of 10,000 Crows” and is the Nomads latest installment. The mural depicts the daily flight of the crows at dusk to roost as seen from Commercial drive. This wall is located at the corner of Commercial Drive and Venables. Visit their website for more incredible samples of their work.
I’m in the midst of adding a mobile version of my site for all those viewing my site on their phones or PDA’s. When you visit my site on your phone, this little plug-in automatically detects this and will present the optimized version. This plug-in gives my blog a mobile/phone/PDA- friendly interface with progressive enhancement for advanced mobile browsers.
Whether you are using a mobile phone such as a Blackberry or Nokia, or a smartphone like an Android or iPhone device with touch capabilities, this version will detect and display a different stylesheet for these two categories. This way, those with touch screens have nice big tap zones, and those with pointers or scroll wheels have shorter scroll areas.
The theme has been developed by the cool dudes at Crowd Favorite – developers of WordPress plug-ins. Most of my pages are good, except my portfolio page. This may take a bit of time. lol
“Mark’s keen design skills turned our prototype web-app into a professional looking application. He spent time to really understand our customers and project goals, his ideas and concepts were top notch. It was a big plus to have Mark working on our project. I would feel very comfortable recommending his design services to peers and colleagues.”
While looking for things all design. I came across this company that designs, manufactures and distributes simple solutions to daily problems with a drive to transform even the most everyday items into objects of desire. BlueLounge was founded by designers Dominic Symons and Melissa Sunjaya – a multi-disciplinary design studio located in Pasadena, California.
Refresh-Charging station
Refresh is a personal or shared charging station for three or more devices. Compact in size and compatible with most of the new devices hitting the market today, it can charge two iPod/iPhones simultaneously while also charging a Blackberry and a bluetooth headset for instance. In fact, using the two iPod connectors and two of your own iPod cords, you could even charge four iPod/iPhones at the same time. Perfect for the whole family!
Besides the two built-in iPod connectors, Refresh is shipped with the essential connectors needed for most new devices: Mini & Micro USB. These connectors are quickly becoming the standard for all mobile phones so Refresh is future proofed.
StudioDesk
Specifically designed for laptop users. A clutter free working environment while still connected to all your peripherals.
All peripherals and excess cables are hidden just under the sliding desktop surface. The storage compartment is therefore conveniently accessed from above. An elongated slot across the width of the desktop allows the necessary peripheral & power cables to enter/exit at any point, thereby keeping the desktop clear of clutter.
CableDrop
Fixed behind or on the desktop, even onto a facing wall. Anywhere in fact where you wish to have cables temporarily held yet easily removeable or extended. CableDrop gently grasps your power and peripheral cords so they do not fall off your desk every time you unplug your laptop.
CableDrop can really blend in with your decor, use them hidden under ledges with the muted colors to match your furniture or bring them to light by using the bright ones. Beyond just preventing cables from falling off a desk, they make great cable clips on furniture legs or walls to control unruly cords.
